EJEPL Youth Divisions Playoff Recap

The Youth Division playoffs were packed with excitement and competitive hockey this weekend! A big thank you to all the teams and venues for making this EJEPL season such a success. Check out the recap below to see who became the champions for the 10U - 14U Diamond and Futures Divisions.

10U Diamond

The semifinal matchups featured Cranford Hockey Club against the Loudoun Knights, with Cranford taking the win; and the Genesis Hockey Club against the Long Island Gulls, with the Gulls taking the win. On to the finals, where Cranford Hockey Club, with two goals from #29 Ryan Clarke, beat the Long Island Gulls in a 6 to 2 win for the championship.

10 Futures Gold 1

Four quarterfinal games set the stage for the semifinal matchups of the Ridgefield Lions versus the Wonderland Wizards and Princeton Jr. Tigers versus Capitals Academy. The Wonderland Wizards and Capitals Academy got the win and faced off in the Championship game. The Wizards took an early lead in the first and although Capitals Academy tired to battle back, the Wizards ultimately outscored them with two goals scored by #93 Nolan Catino and two goals by #9 Jamison Bogue to take home the big win in the finals.

10U Futures Gold 2

The Long Island Gulls battled it out in a close game against the Northwest Icehawks in the first semifinal matchup and beat them 3 to 2 to move on to the finals. While the Peconic Wildcats beat the Nutley Clifton Horse Pirates in the other semifinal matchup booking their ticket to the finals. The Championship game was an exciting one as both the Gulls and Wildcats were tied at one a piece after the first, but the Gulls pulled ahead with three goals in the second ultimately earning them the championship with a 4 to 3 win.

10U Futures Silver 1

The Long Beach Lightning - Florio and Hershey Jr. Bears had earned a first-round bye and sat back to watch the quarterfinals to see who they would meet in the semis. The Easton Icehawks beat the Baltimore Stars 2 to 1 and moved on to the semis. North Park Youth Hockey got a shutout against the Loudoun Knights, with #1 Emmeline Almers and #27 Walter Carson scoring a hat trick and #8 Theodore Gailliot scoring two goals. The semis were set with Easton Icehawks taking on the Hersey Jr. Bears and North Park Youth Hockey taking on the Long Beach Lightning - Florio. The Bears outscored the Icehawks to get the win and move on to the finals - #10 Mason Umberger scored four goals and #87 Cooper Brocious scored two goals. North Park Youth Hockey and Long Beach Lightning - Florio played a close game decided by one goal with the Lightning getting the win and a chance at the title. The two top seeds found themselves facing off in the finals where Long Beach Lightning - Florio outscored the Bears, with both #10 John Schutlz and #88 William Munsterman scoring two goals a piece, and earning themselves the championship.

10 Futures Silver 2

Both semifinal games had high scoring from the winners - first from the Long Beach Lightning - Deacon beating the Pelham Pelicans - Coughlin and from the New Jersey Titans - Bird beating the Metro Militia. They met up in the finals and the New Jersey Titans - Bird continued their high scoring with a shutout against Long Beach Lightning - Deacon. Players #19 Giovanni Ursino and #56 Shane Murphy scored a hat trick and #17 Kyle Hertz scored two goals to help the team secure the win.

12U Diamond

Yale Youth Hockey and Genesis Hockey Club earned a first-round bye, automatically securing their spots in the semifinals - so the quarterfinals would decide who they would face. First quarters had the Nassau County Lions versus the Ridgefield Lions with Ridgefield getting the win and set to face Genesis in the semis. And the second quarters had Capitals Academy against the Princeton Jr. Tigers where the Tigers got the overtime win and marched on to face Yale in the semis. Top seeded Genesis Hockey Club shutout the Ridgefield Lions in the semis, while the Princeton Jr. Tigers beat out top seeded Yale Youth Hockey and moved on to the finals. In a back and forth final match up, the division’s top seed came out on top and Genesis Hockey Club got the win over the Princeton Jr. Tigers.

12U Futures Gold 1

The Wonderland Wizards and Metro Militia were watching on during quarterfinals as they earned a bye to the semis by finishing as the top two seeds in the division. For the quarters, the Long Island Kings beat the Montclair Blues - Devereux in a close game decided by one goal, and the New York Stars beat the Long Beach Lightning. In the semis, the New York Stars faced off with the Wonderland Wizards where the Wizards won, and Metro Militia faced off with the Long Island Kings, where the Kings got the overtime win to advance. In a close final game, the Long Island Kings played the Wonderland Wizards, where the Wizards became the champions with an overtime win.

12U Futures Gold 2

Two quarterfinal games saw the Loudoun Knights against the Hershey Jr. Bears - Burger and Cranford Youth Hockey against Yale Youth Hockey to see who would move on to face the Montclair Blues - Baresich or the Flyers Youth who finished at the top of the division and automatically advanced to the semis. Cranford Youth Hockey got the win over Yale Youth Hockey and Hershey Jr. Bears - Burger got the win over the Loudoun Knights. Both semifinals were a competitive matchup where the Montclair Blues - Baresich beat Cranford Youth Hockey and Flyers Youth beat Hershey Jr. Bears - Burger. The division’s two top seeds, Flyers Youth and Montclair Blues - Baresich faced off in the finals where Flyers Youth got the 6 to 2 win, with goal contributions from six different players, to become the division champions. 

12U Futures Silver 1

Eight teams kicked off the quarterfinals with the Peconic Wildcats defeating the Nassau County Lions; the Long Island Enforcers shutting out and beating the Loudoun Knights; the Long Island Edge defeating the Pelham Pelicans - Reinhart; and the Jersey Wolves - Lilien 2 defeating North Park Youth Hockey. For the semis Jersey Wolves - Lilien 2 beat the Long Island Enforcers in an overtime win and booked themselves a ticket to the finals, while the Peconic Wildcats shutout the Long Island Edge booking their ticket to the finals. Due to some mechanical issues, the finals were unable to be played this past weekend but we look forward to Jersey Wolves - Lilien 2 facing off against the Peconic Wildcats in a championship game very soon.

12U Futures Silver 2

Top seeds with a first-round bye, Hershey Jr. Bears - Esser and Prinecton Jr. Tigers - Henderson watched the quarterfinals as the New York Stars defeated Genesis Hockey Club - Malik and the Long Island Sharks - Pierkarski defeated the Howard Huskies - Stock. The semis were set! Long Island Sharks - Pierkarski played the top seed Prinecton Jr. Tigers - Henderson and beat them in a high scoring game to move on to the finals. While top seed Hershey Jr. Bears - Esser held on to their spot and beat the New York Stars. The final was a close game, tied after the second period, but the Hershey Jr. Bears - Esser pulled ahead in the third against Long Island Sharks - Pierkarski , with #30 Jason Yonker scoring the game winning goal (his second of the game) to secure the win and become the division champions.

13U Diamond

The Nassau County Lions and the Montclair Blues battled it out in a best of three-game series. The Lions took the win in the first game, while the Blues took the win in the second game. And so, it all came down to the third and final game which was a close one decided by just one goal where the Nassau County Lions held on to become the champions.

14U Diamond

Quarterfinal matchup winners Genesis Hockey Club (beating the Long Beach Lightning) and Loudoun Knights (beating the Princeton Jr. Tigers) earned their spots to compete with the top seeds who earned a bye into the semi-finals. Genesis Hockey Club faced off with top seeded Capitals Academy, where Capitals Academy got the win in overtime and moved on to the finals. In the other semis, Loudoun Knights faced off with top seeded Long Island Edge. What a game this was, going to four overtimes before the Edge were able to score the game winner and move on. The finals were just as exciting, requiring overtime to crown a champion - Capitals Academy came out on top beating the Long Island Edge in a 2 to 1 overtime win.

14U Futures Gold

To set the stage for the quarters, Hampton Roads Youth Hockey competed against Snider Hockey in a play-in game, where Hamptons Road took the win. So, the quarterfinal matchups were set with Long Island Gulls defeating the Junior Bulldogs; Hamptons Road Youth Hockey defeating the Wonderland Wizards; Northwest Icehawks defeating the Ridgefield Lions; and Metro Militia defeating the Central Penn Panthers. On to the semis where Northwest Icehawks shutout Hamptons Roads Youth Hockey and Metro Militia beat the Long Island Gulls. In a hard fought finals, the Northwest Icehawks beat Metro Militia in a 6 to 4 win, where #81 Patrik Sadlon scored two of the team’s goals, helping the Icehawks become the division champions.

14U Futures Silver 1

The three quaterfinals featured Long Beach Lightning versus West Point Junior Black Knights - Bieber, with the Lightning taking the win and moving on to the semis. Cranford Youth Hockey shutout the New Jersey Titans to move on to the semis. And the Bowie Bruins beat the Peconic Wildcats - Ierna to move on to the semifinals. The first matchup had the Bowie Bruins facing the Delco Phantoms - Jung, where Delco won by one goal; and Cranford Youth Hockey faced off and defeated the Long Beach Lightning so the finals were set. In a close game, decided by one goal, Delco Phantoms - Jung became the division champions over Cranford Youth Hockey.

14U Futures Silver 2

Top seeds Carolina Thunder and Ramapo Saints - Jennings watched on as the quarterfinals decided their semifinal opponents. First up, in an overtime decider, the Easton Icehawks beat the Long Island Enforcers; and second up, the Ramapo Saints - Tuttle outshot and beat Genesis Hockey Club - Malik. The Ramapo Saints - Tuttle went on to face the top seeded Carolina Thunder in the semis where it took 3 overtimes but the Ramapo Saints - Tuttle were able to get the game winner and move on to fight in the finals. The Easton Icehawks took on the other top seed, Carolina Thunder, and were able to beat them by one goal to become the winners and move on. In the finals, the Easton Icehawks, with two players scoring two goals a piece, #19 Samuel Jensen and #97 Skylar Bahr, shut out the Ramapo Saints - Tuttle to crown themselves division champions.
